Moving the MLB All-Star game to Denver makes NO sense

Major League Baseball is moving its 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta, Ga., to Coors Field in Denver, Colo. This, says ESPN, is “in response to a new Georgia law that has civil rights groups concerned about its potential to restrict voting access for people of color.”

Or, more likely, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred moved the game because he is concerned about Rob Manfred.

The full postmortem on Archegos Capital won’t be written for a while, but one thing is already clear: This little-known hedge fund run by a trader named Bill Hwang has become the latest lightning rod for Wall Street greed run amok. Greed may indeed be one of the backstories to this seemingly harmless “family office”...

Andrew Yang speaks truth to teachers in mayor’s race: Goodwin
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Andrew Yang must have seen this one coming. Democrats who want to be mayor all know that teachers’ unions are like a third rail. Touch it and your career is dead. But Yang didn’t just touch the third rail. He grabbed hold with both hands and let the world know what he was doing. “I...

Here’s how NYC can save its COVID-crushed hotels
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Before the deadly COVID-19 virus ravaged New York last March, our city was arguably the hotel capital of the United States. My two hotels, the Fitzpatricks, were fully booked for months. I had 155 full-time employees.  Now, one year later, one of my hotels is temporarily closed, and there’s no sign in sight of when...

Why are Manhattan’s COVID rates so low compared with the rest of NYC?
Why are Manhattan’s COVID rates so low compared with the rest of NYC?
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Manhattan has a much lower COVID-19 infection rate than the four other boroughs. It also has many fewer hospitalizations and deaths. Yet the “experts” are astonishingly incurious as to why. They tend to mention it only in passing, if at all. Why such scant attention to so tantalizing a phenomenon? Manhattan doesn’t lie hundreds of...

Democrats will live to regret it if they nuke the filibuster
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

There’s nothing that ails President Joe Biden’s agenda, we are supposed to believe, that ending the filibuster wouldn’t fix. Biden showed a little leg on changing the filibuster in an ABC News interview, while almost every Senate Democrat wants to ditch it. Even Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who still supports the filibuster, said a...

Washington Post correction tells a sordid tale of agenda-driven ‘journalism’
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

“Democracy dies in darkness” has been The Washington Post’s oh-so-sanctimonious slogan these last four years, but what does promoting anonymous lies do for the republic? The paper just had to run a correction that amounts to a huge retraction of its “scoop” last year about then-President Donald Trump supposedly telling a Georgia election official “find...

💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Poor Joe Biden. It was his misfortune to inherit one of the technological marvels of our time. Before President Biden took office, the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines had been authorized for use (with another, from Johnson & Johnson, on the way) and were already being administered to people around the country. Typically, it takes...

No one running for New York mayor seems to care about crime
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Have any of the front-running mayoral candidates noticed New York City’s intense crime problem? It sure doesn’t seem so. Shootings surged in February, despite the record snowfalls and continuing lockdowns. And that followed a 40 percent hike in murders in 2020 over the previous year — and a doubling of shooting incidents. Do any of...

Stimulus potholes aplenty thanks to infrastructure red ink from Democrats
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

“Everyone is now excited about infrastructure,” a Democratic Party operative with ties to Wall Street declared late last week following passage of President Biden’s vacuous, $1.9 trillion stimulus bill.  When pressed by Lydia Moynihan of Fox Business on who “everyone” actually is, the operative rattled off the following names: “Progressives, moderates, everyone.”  Translation: Get ready...

Andrew Cuomo’s weakness puts all of New York at risk
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

On Friday, a defiant Gov. Andrew Cuomo again told reporters, “I am not going to resign,” in answer to a wave of demands he step down from almost every top Democrat in the state. Thing is, the growing tide of calls for him to quit does erode his power, especially as new harassment accusers step...

💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Low as our expectations were, President Biden still disappointed with his speech Thursday night. We’re supposed to hope that if all goes well, we can gather with a few others outdoors to celebrate Independence Day? Sorry, sir, we can do that now. And Americans by the tens if not hundreds of millions are. And in...

To defeat woke tyrants, the rest of us must treat them like the monsters they are
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Most Americans hate woke politics — and most minorities don’t share “woke” priorities. Indeed, according to pollster David Shor, woke excesses are causing black voters to flee the Democratic Party. Despite endless charges of “racism,” former President Donald Trump took the biggest share of minority voters of any Republican in my lifetime.   Woke tyrants ride high, even...

Is Joe up for tough questions?: Devine
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

For some reason, comedians are struggling to parody Joe Biden. According to The Washington Post, the reason has nothing to do with liberal bias.  It is that Biden is so “self-effacing” and his “pleasantly boring presidency has been a welcome return to normality.”  That’s one way to look at the rapidly accumulating crises besetting the...

💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Somewhere in the piles of garbage lining the streets of Bushwick, residents might find Mayor de Blasio’s word. It’s been six months since the mayor promised to pump more money into the city’s street-cleaning efforts. And the trash problem has only gotten worse. De Blasio in September announced initiatives to reallocate Sanitation Department funding to bolster...

NYC district attorneys’ bogus gesture on subway safety
NYC district attorneys’ bogus gesture on subway safety
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

The city’s district attorneys say they’ll prosecute spitting on transit workers, but not smoking weed or urinating in the subway — which shows how clueless the prosecutors are about what makes it dangerous underground. The DAs were showing support for a state bill to make saliva-assaults easier to prosecute. “Spitting on someone is disgusting, especially...

Andrew Cuomo’s insidious lies are finally catching up with him
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

I made Gov. Cuomo angry last summer, and I now understand that I acted in a way that made him feel uncomfortable. But I want the governor to understand that my slight was unintentional, and I truly and deeply apologize for it. I feel awful about it and frankly, I’m embarrassed by it, and that’s...

💬Opinion | New York Post . |

With the Republican loss in the 2020 election, there is a great deal of debate on where the party and the wider conservative movement are headed. According to betting markets, the 2024 field is wide open. The odds-on favorite is former President Donald Trump, but even he only has around a 20 percent chance as...

Should children be given life-altering treatments to help them transition from one gender to another, including puberty blockers and body-mutilating surgeries? Gov. Cuomo is on the verge of being done for good
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

Andrew’s in the soup, that’s for sure. Wrap your head around this: The New York Times is reporting that Gov. Cuomo took time out from coronavirus hot-dogging last June to offer tattoo-placement advice to a just-turned-25-year-old female aide of no particular expertise during a private, closed-door sit-down in the state Capitol. Cuomo suggested “she should...

‘Share-plunge’ GameStop traders serve valuable function
💬Opinion | New York Post . |

It feels wrong to hope that a company goes out of business and its stock craters to zero, which is why short sellers — the traders who make money when stocks tank — are treated with disdain in many corners of Wall Street and now increasingly in Washington.  But the devil in this case deserves...
